Working girl again
After 5 weeks of vacation I am employed again…My company runs text message and voicemail marketing campaigns among some other things. I am in charge of all client interaction and getting what they want…The one thing I did not know before taking the job was that everyone else in the office is Argentine and I would be speaking Spanish the ENTIRE day.
The first week was tough in a good way. I think having to speak Spanish the entire day will do miracles for my Spanish but it’s going to be really hard for a few weeks, not to mention exhausting. The people I work with all speak English, but not to me. I am so excited to be in a new office (In the BA China Town) although it’s nowhere near as nice as the Cox Building :) and I am excited to meet new people as well.
Funny story from my first week. Friday I went to lunch by myself around 3 (I work from 11 a.m. - 8 p.m.) and sat at a restaurant outside. Sat down, everything was great. Ordered a salad and as I took my first bite, I noticed 3 pigeons creeping up on me. Took another few bites, looked up again and two of the pigeons flew onto the chair across from me. Next thing I know, I am basically getting gang banged by pigeons. They are trying to eat my food and I was awkwardly trying to swat them away as three people laughed at me. It got so out of control, the waitress came out and swatted them away for me…THAT would ONLY happen to me…
Tomorrow I start week two and I will hopefully have gotten into the routine of working again. It’s great to have a routine but I’m not gonna lie, 5 weeks of vacation was quite lovely.
